An important update on Dugan Ashley

We covered Dugan Ashely, a gun culture icon in past posts here at The Gun Bulletin and are pleased to announce that Dugan has weighed in on the almost $150K effort to help him and his family in his ongoing fight with MS.

Best known to most as the incredible CarnikCon, thrilled us all on YouTube for years, providing some of the funniest content you can imagine.

He recently resurfaced after an extended hiatus to let the world know that he is signing off as his disease has become extremely advanced.

Following his somber video goodbye message, fans started a Go Fund Me crowd raising effort-– Dugan never asked for anything– and it is reached some $143,800 as of Sunday night, from some 3,100 donors– an average of $46.

From Dugan:

I was conflicted about a fundraiser. There is a lot of suffering in the world for all people, I’m not unique nor more deserving of mercy than anyone else.
My intent was seeking second opinions and recommendations from anyone willing, to resist multiple sclerosis.
Max who started the GoFundMe, was a stranger to me, I asked Max to return the funds one night, Max insisted to contact GoFundMe first to ensure funds were returned to donors without penalty.
Then my wife found that there were thousands of donations, most of which were small increments $5 here, $20 there.
I couldnt imagine that because Ive personally never witnessed anything like it happen.
Once I understood what took place, i saw that to refuse your gift would be a slap in the face and waste of your effort.
I’m deeply humbled by your generous gifts to our family.
We are grateful for all of the help that has been given from doctors and concerned people.
There were so many emails in response to the video that I haven’t been able to go through them.
Thank you for your prayers and messages.
Your responses gave me a sense of responsibilty to fight.
The situation with medical treatment is on-going but promising. Im pending a new medication and am seeking a strong care plan expeditiously.
I have made drastic changes and the result has been incredible,
Im healing beyond what I had prayed for.
I know it is not my own doing.
I thank you all. This has been a terrible time in our lives but we are determined to use our time to live greater.
Your gift has made that a reality for us.
It’s been an unexpected blessing to see my wife give her attention to our kids without the fatigue of daily worry that comes with this illness.
Thank you for what you’ve done for my family. I humbly accept your help.
This experience has changed who I am.
You have blessed us and we hope to live a better life that such an effort from friends and strangers demands.
Thank you from our hearts.

Please remember to give what you can, if you can, to help. As Carnik-Con would note, “$20 is $20.”
