Whitetails Unlimited recently awarded a $5,000 grant to the USA Clay Target League. During the fall of 2021, the league had nearly 12,000 student participants nationwide focusing primarily on 5-stand trap. That number is expected to increase during the spring of 2022.

WTU prides itself on supporting various shooting sports programs like the USA Clay Target League. Not only does the shooting sports industry generate Pittman-Robertson dollars, it also inspires individuals to become hunters. Whitetails Unlimited’s Preserving the Hunting Tradition program is comprised of several initiatives aimed at encouraging people to experience the outdoors.
“Helping individuals make that transition from shooters to hunters is one of the things we do,” says Whitetails Unlimited Program Services Director Russ Austad.
The USA Clay Target League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The League is the independent provider of clay target shooting sports for secondary and postsecondary schools. The League’s priorities are safety, fun, and marksmanship – in that order.
