South CMP Competition Center in Anniston:

The South CMP Competition Center includes the CMP South Store, which is fully stocked with equipment and memorabilia needs, along with an 80-point indoor air gun range, fitted with electronic targets. The climate-controlled facility hosts Open Public Nights every week, where individuals of all ages are welcome to bring their own air rifle or air pistol to fire for practice or fun. Those who are new to the sport and may not own an air gun are welcome to rent one from the CMP during their visit. The air guns use pellets for firing and are easy to handle – no noise or kickback!

The range is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Guests may also visit by appointment Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. And don’t forget, the CMP hosts Monthly Matches for those who are ready for competition! Talladega Marksmanship Park:

Known as “The Home of Marksmanship,” the park is a worthy destination for firearm supporters. Maintaining several features that can only be found at the 500-acre facility, the park regularly hosts rifle, pistol, shotgun, and archery events all year long.

The CMP’s Unknown Distance Range at Talladega allows guests to practice in a field of over 100 steel targets, out to 625 yards, while the 3D Archery Range contains 20 lanes of life-size targets and a practice range. The rifle range is equipped with electronic targets that automatically raise and lower at 200, 300 and 600 yards, meaning those on the covered firing line never have to move. Monitors at each firing point provide instant feedback. The park also provides a number of pistol ranges for visitors to enjoy.

For those who are new to marksmanship or want to hone their skills, the CMP holds monthly educational courses – led by certified instructors on the range. The park also hosts monthly competitions, open to all experience levels!

The public is welcome daily to test out their firearms or to simply take a tour of the grounds. Off the firing line, the Club House holds a fully stocked Pro Shop that includes a collection of rifles, ammunition, marksmanship accessories and memorabilia.
