Jon Pynch took 1st Place honors in the Open Heavy Division, while Morgun King won the Open Light division by an astounding 32 points.
The High Desert Hunter match challenged shooters across 20 simulated hunting stages. The average target distance was 450 yards, but shots could ultimately fall anywhere between 150-980 yards.
Both Pynch and King shoot the Mark 5HD 5-25 with the PR2-MIL reticle during competition.
“Competitors have to be able to trust their optic to perform, and every match I shoot, I see more and more Mark 5HD’s on the line,” King said. “There’s no other scope I’d shoot out there, and a lot of the guys I’m competing against clearly feel the same way.”
The Mark 5HD redefines accuracy, precision, and optical performance for long-range shooters. Get behind one and you’ll see the difference, from its superior edge-to-edge clarity to its extreme low-light performance. With three revolutions of elevation adjustment, the Mark 5HD was made to max out the performance of the latest long-range rifles and ammunition. It features Leupold’s Professional-Grade Optical System, which offers unmatched light transmission that’s designed to outperform in the most challenging lighting conditions, industry-leading glare reduction for a clear image in harsh, direct light, and the resolution and clarity that professional guides and shooters demand in the field.
Developed with input from the country’s top competitors and professional shooters, the PR2 reticles are specifically designed for long-range speed and precision. Available in either MIL or MOA, the PR2 provides shooters with a clean sight picture that’s free of the clutter you see with other Christmas tree designs, allowing for fast accuracy, hold-offs, and shot corrections. Combined with the FFP construction of the Mark 5HD, you’ll be able to quickly range your target, compensate for windage and drop, and retain extreme precision at both the lowest and highest magnification.
“The PR2-MIL reticle has been a game-changer in the long-range precision rifle community,” Pynch said. “It’s open, simple, and fast–which is exactly what you’re going to need if you expect to win.”
