Since the initial debut of the Hydra system, the company has invested in increased manufacturing capacity. It now produces the major components of the system in-house, thereby, making product more available through distribution.
Additionally, the Hydra system is even more modular, with the introduction of the Transforming Handguard©. Now, integration of accessories with M-LOK, Key, or Picatinny locking systems can all be employed on the Hydra Transforming Handguard. The individual six-position, screw-in panels allow the user to mix and match locking systems based on the accessories to be used. The Hydra comes with one panel each, and a full set of M-LOK panels so you are ready out the door, for anything.
The 5.56mm Hydra is the base model by which multiple caliber incarnations can be produced. The rifle includes the Hydra Modular Lower Receiver with a 5.56mm AR mag well, an AR magazine, and the Hydra Quick Change Barrel Upper Receiver (QCB-D). In addition, the rifle features a 5.56mm 1:7 twist barrel with a low-profile gas block, the Hydra Modified Bolt Carrier, the Hydra D-Fender D-Ring for increased reliability, and a B5 Systems Bravo stock on a 6-position tube, and a Type 22 pistol grip.
Unlike other rifle systems that claim modularity, what makes the Hydra system truly unique is the ease with which barrel change-outs can occur. No need for special tools either. Barrel change-out uses two locking levers (on the bottom of the fore-end) that rotate 90 degrees and position a cam bar over each side of the barrel’s front. It locks the barrel in place. The lower receiver is designed to easily swap out magazines through their designed and made in-house mag wells, which also require limited tools to exchange.
Taking the Hydra Modular 5.56 AR platform to the next level, Hydra Weaponry offers Conversion Packages with everything the user will need to convert to .300 Blackout, .450 Bushmaster, 9mm SMG-9C, or AK-47 7.62×39. The Next-Gen Hydra Multi-Caliber, Modular AR rifle system is not your daddy’s AR. Now available at your favorite dealer.
