This is a USATF-certified 5K run that will wind through the paved trails of the Marksmanship Park offering an early morning tour of the ranges and state-of-the-art facilities scattered around the 500-acre park. The race fee is treated as a donation and will go towards supporting CMP Youth Marksmanship Programs. As such, the entrance fee is non-refundable.

Sign up now for early bird pricing! Right now, until October 1st, the entrance fee is $18. After that deadline, the cost will go up to $25. October will be here before you know it, so don’t wait!

A discounted price of $15 is offered to the following groups until October 1st:

  • Military & Family
  • Anniston Runners Club
  • Birmingham Track Club
  • Gadsden Runners Club

T-Shirts are guaranteed only if registered before October 8th. The entry fee for the 1K Fun Run is $5. The 5K Range Run begins at 7 a.m. followed by the 1K Fun Run at 8 a.m.

The run is just under 2 ½ months away, so now is the perfect time to start your training regimen! The best way to prepare for a race like this is to follow a training schedule that starts with run/walk intervals and adds more running progressively throughout the weeks.

The Mayo Clinic has a 7-week training schedule that will make it manageable for beginners to tackle. Visit https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/fitness/in-depth/5k-run/art-20050962 for more details.

There is another 9-week program called Couch 2 5k that is designed for anyone who wants to crush their running goals! Search in the App Store on your phone or visit https://c25k.com/#google_vignette.

The CMP can arrange practice runs on the range for those who want to practice on the actual course.
