Founded in 1989, the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout began as an event in which locals participated in a contest at the reservoir to determine who had the fastest boat and is now the largest unsanctioned boat race in the country. Over the years, the event has grown significantly with large numbers of attendees and sponsors, with this year’s event building on that momentum. In addition, since its inception, it has raised millions of dollars for dozens of local charities.
Numerous pre-events will be held before the main event on the 24th and the 25th, with one of these — the “Shootout on the Strip Street Party” on the 21st — being held at the Bagnell Dam Strip, home of many Reese Development properties. Proceeds of the overall event — including those from the Springfield Armory-donated pistols — will go to a host of charitable organizations.
Since its launch in 2023, the Springfield Armory Echelon has proven itself to be a premier duty-grade 9mm pistol. Winner of a host of awards — ranging from the “Handgun of the Year” for Guns & Ammo to NASGW’s “Best New Handgun” to being an NTOA MTR “Gold-Rated” offering — the Echelon sets a new standard for modern, striker-fired duty pistols. With a host of patent-pending features, this modular and highly adaptable handgun is designed around a robust stainless steel chassis and revolutionary optics mounting system. Additionally, the Lake Ozark Police employ the Echelon pistol.
The Hellcat Pro Comp — the newest addition to the Hellcat Pro family — has quickly made its mark in the EDC community. The Hellcat Pro has also earned numerous accolades, including being named a “Best Compact Semi-Auto” in the Athlon Ballistic’s Best award series as well as receiving an “Editor’s Choice” award from On Target. The new Hellcat Pro Comp variant is integrally compensated to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise. From its compact dimensions to performance capabilities reminiscent of a full-sized pistol, the Hellcat Pro Comp redefines what’s possible in everyday carry.
“Springfield Armory is happy to support the 2024 ‘Lake of the Ozarks Shootout’ with these two highly capable pistols from our line,” said Dennis Reese, CEO and owner of Springfield Armory. “We’re thrilled to be able to be a part of an event with such a long history of helping the local community as well as supporting a broad range of charitable organizations.”
