Each year, we refine the design, and for 2025, we’ve incorporated our signature 13-degree cocking serrations on the slide, an 18kt gold bead front sight, and mirror-polished stainless steel small parts, including the grip safety, mainspring housing, and barrel bushing, for enhanced elegance and durability.
The zebra’s iconic black and white stripes, often mistaken as poor camouflage in open terrain, blend seamlessly among the thorny shrubs of the African bush, rendering the animal nearly invisible. Similarly, the stripes serve as unique identifiers, with no two zebras sharing the same pattern.
Mirroring this natural artistry, each Cabot Zebra Damascus 1911 is one-of-a-kind, with handcrafted components that showcase individual character while maintaining precision performance. Crafting a Damascus billet is a meticulous process, where the choice of materials and techniques yields a distinct result.
Typically, artisans alternate two steel types, folding, reheating, and reforging them multiple times to create the hundreds of layers characteristic of Damascus steel. The challenge lies in managing heat, which can alter the steel’s chemical and physical properties, potentially compromising its integrity. Cabot’s master craftsmen expertly balance these factors to produce stainless Damascus strong enough for firearms.
The 2025 Zebra Damascus 1911 elevates this artistry by combining two premium stainless Damascus types, forging them into a slide over an inch thick. The striking visual effect comes from alternating fine cross-hatched Damascus with a broader, bolder pattern, presented at an inclined angle. Specialized etching techniques, refined for 2025, enhance the steel’s intricate beauty, creating a breathtaking contrast.
