Beretta Delivers new, Lighter 92X Performance Defensive Pistol (And it’s Optics Ready!)

Accokeek, MD (September 22, 2021) – Beretta USA is excited to announce the launch of the new 92X Performance Defensive – the next evolution of the popular 92X Performance line of competition pistols. Specifically designed for those consumers who participate in IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) competitions, the 92X Performance Defensive maintains the same ergonomic design and controls as the popular 92X Performance Production platform with new enhanced features such as a lightened steel frame and slide, a red-dot optic ready slide, and aggressively textured 92X-style thin grips for instinctive control.

“Beretta USA is excited to finally present the new 92X Performance Defensive, a line extension specifically designed for IDPA competitions. The Performance Product Line has been expanding since the official launch at the 2019 IWA Outdoor Classics Show, and we are now proudly partnering with the top major sport shooting associations in the world to keep promoting Beretta products’ excellence. The Defensive represents the state-of-the-art design for SA/DA pistols to compete in SSP, ESP, and CO divisions. The feature set speaks for itself as it introduces the most innovative characteristics for a competition gun. I look forward to meeting the IDPA community at the 2021 IDPA Nationals in Colorado and enjoying the launch of this new model together,” Nicola Lorenzi, Business Development Manager – Pistols, said.

Custom built to take your competition performance to the next level, the 92X Performance Defensive features a lightened steel frame and Brigadier slide adapted to meet the specific weight requirements for IDPA regulation firearms. This weight reduction includes the removal of the traditional Picatinny rail and additional slight modifications on the internal design of the slide and frame.

The red-dot optic ready 92X Performance Defensive features integral slide cuts to allow for the mounting of optional optic plate styles. Shipping with blanking covers, the end-user can purchase one of five different plates to mount all of the most popular optic variants on the market today.

With aggressively textured 92X-style thin grips and front and backstrap checkering, the 92X Performance Defensive allows for instinctive control and ensures consistent and accurate target acquisition. Saw-toothed front and rear slide serrations ensure maximum grip during slide manipulation in all conditions.

The Xtreme-S Trigger System features a fully adjustable trigger that decreases trigger reset by up to 40% while still maintaining Beretta’s renowned safety features. The skeletonized hammer combined with a competition standard hammer spring enables an even faster lock time.

Compliant with the three most shot IDPA Divisions (SSP, ESP, CO), the 92X Performance Defensive provides an uncompromising performance aimed at earning you a spot at the top of the podium with power, speed, and accuracy.

The Beretta 92X Performance Defensive will be on display and available for demo at this week’s 2021 IDPA National Championship – Presented by Beretta at the Cameo Shooting and Education Complex in Palisade, Colorado from September 22-25, 2021.
