American Legion’s 2021 Junior Three-Position Air Rifle Tournament– Sign Up Now!

The American Legion is currently holding its 32nd Junior Three-Position Air Rifle Tournament, which provides sporter and precision competitors an opportunity to test their marksmanship ability in competition with other junior competitors throughout the nation.

The event is open to junior (high school seniors and younger) individuals and club teams affiliated with an American Legion Post and is conducted in two postal phases: the first round for State Championships and the second round for qualification to the National Championship in July. The course of fire includes 60 shots for record at 10 meters (20 shots at prone, standing, and kneeling positions).

Competitors registered for the match will receive official targets to be fired upon at their local ranges and returned for scoring. Distribution and scoring are administered by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).

Dates to note for the 2021-2022 American Legion Three-Position Air Rifle Championships:

  • Sept. 1, 2021 – Registration opens for the first round of Postal Match
  • Dec. 15, 2021 – Registration closes for the first round of Postal Match
  • Feb. 1, 2022 – Targets due to CMP for scoring
  • Feb. 15, 2022 – Second round Postals begin
  • April 1, 2022 – Second round Postals end, Targets due to CMP
  • July 21-24, 2022 – American Legion National Championship

 Match entry is $18 per target set (six targets), which must be purchased no later than Dec. 15, 2021. The top 15 individual competitors overall from each category (sporter and precision) will be invited to participate in the National Championship.
