Talladega, Alabama– November 2024– Staying at the forefront of technology within the shooting sports, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has upgraded its Kongsberg Target Systems outdoor electronic target line to include a new eScore platform – the world’s first cloud-based shooting software – at Talladega Marksmanship Park in Alabama!

Talladega Marksmanship Park is CMP’s premier 500-acre outdoor facility, comprised of several ranges that accommodate rifle, pistol, archery, and shotgun disciplines. The park is open to the public daily and hosts several matches and clinics throughout the year for individuals of all experience levels.

Since Talladega’s opening in 2015, the 600-yard rifle range has been equipped with a string of electronic targets, powered by Kongsberg Target System (KTS) technology. The system was designed to show shot placement on LED displays next to each competitor on the firing line – some of the most innovative technology in marksmanship at the time of its installation.

KTS’s updated system at Talladega will maintain the ease of use and accuracy of the targets that have made the facility a destination for enthusiasts over the last decade while providing innovative improvements like the replacement of large monitors with personal iPads for each participant.

The wireless tablets allow users to zoom in and out, view windage, and follow an intergraded timer for slow-fire and rapid-fire stages, along with other adjustable settings. The KTS Journal software also automatically uploads target images and scores to the CMP website in real-time. Journals may be accessed through the CMP website at https://thecmp.org/competitions/live-targets/.

The CMP has already applied KTS eScore to its Travel Games events, held around the country each year, with remarkable success in functionality and the reduction of competition times – allowing more opportunities for fellowship or even the possibility of multiple matches in a day.

Now, with the latest installation, guests to Talladega will be able to experience the same accessibility and precision that can only be found at CMP events while experiencing some of today’s most groundbreaking advancements.
